Instagram decides to retire the swap-up feature, social media network swapup features Instagram will no more.
The link swapup feature given with stories in Instagram is now being retired.
This feature allows users to visit the website with the link given in the story.
But from August 30, instead of a swap-up link, link stickers will now be used for this purpose.
Instagram has confirmed that tabable stickers will now be used to take them to external websites, The Verge reported.
According to the company the swapup is being retired to give more better experience to stories and more creative control to consumers.
The company started testing link stickers in June and at the time, former Instagram product head Vishal Shah said that the test will also look at what kind of links people post while keeping an eye on links with spam and misleading content.
He said stickers are people's favourite approach in this platform and hence links are being made part of the overall system, which will make it simple.
The main difference between the two features is that users can also express a reaction to link stickers that are not possible on the swap-up stories.
According to Instagram, only users currently using the swapup will be able to use the stayer option but will continue to be checked to introduce all users.
According to the company, this update will help us make the right decision regarding access to this feature to more people.
